Rainbow Food has now been successfully trialled in the childcare setting, with the assistance of the Federal Minister for Children. The results are tabled below. The best results came from the centre which used the program for the longest period of time. An improvement of 319% was achieved in the variety of healthy food sent in from home following the implemetation of the Rainbow Food program.

Events 2003 a RAINBOW FOOD YEAR

FEBRUARY Rainbow Food-Eating by Colour is Trademarked.

MARCH-JUNE Chilcare centres are invited to partcipate in a pilot of Rainbow Food-Eating by Colour. A cross section of 1000 children aged 0 to 5 years, is sought from urban, rural and multicultural backgrounds.

JUNE – Launch of Rainbow Food Week at the Byron Bay Community Centre in N.S.W. Australia. Officially opened by the Federal Minister for Children, Mr Larry Anthony, who announced the Commonwealth government's support of the project by funding the pilot of Rainbow Food as an early intervention program in the childcare setting. 1000 familes, their children and carers are participating in the project.

JULY- OCTOBER website updates as participating families and centres contribute recipes, songs, games and Rainbow Food success stories.

NOV 9-15 is Australian National Psychologist Week. As a member of the Australian Psychological Society, Denise will be celebrating the week by announcing the preliminary results of the Rainbow Food pilot study.

DECEMBER will see the close of the Rainbow Food pilot project and final results will be published on the site and forwarded to the Commonwealth Government with a view to implementing Rainbow Food into Childcare curricula.

Denise finalises her research, completes the final draft and copywritesRainbow Food. Talks to
 publishers.Decides to self publish in order to maintain  the integrity of thework. Denise presents Mirror Mirror in Melbourne at the fourth Body Image Conferencebefore going out to Uluru for researchpurposes.  MirrorMirror workshops continue in NSW.   

2002
Rainbow Food is published and launched at Woolworths in Byron Bay NSW.  TheRainbow Food Eating by Colour program is developed and introduced to a number of primary schools, youthactivity centres and at an aboriginal childcare centre in Uluru.  Deniseattends the Summit on Childhood Obesity in Sydney TheRainbow Food Eating by Colour program catches the attention of the Ministerfor Children. A grant is proposedto trial the program in childcares settings and develop a training package. MirrorMirror workshops continue by demand in NSW and Qld, along with the UltimateYou program for boys.    

2003
 Denise applies to trademark Rainbow Food-Eating by Colour Negotiationstake place with the Commonwealth govt to make the childcare centre pilota reality. A steering committeeis formed, a childcare centre chosen and the project is announced May 1in the lead up to InternationalNo Diet Day May 6 Tocelebrate International No Diet Day Sydney YWCA publishes the story lineof Mirror Mirror in a magazine designedto help girls' body image and self esteem.
