Mirror Mirror, a modern faerytale

The story...

Wearied by cleaning up after humans who continue to destroy themselves and the planet on which they live, two faeries decide that there must be someone on Earth, who has enough vision to lead humans out of their plight. Auram the golden fairy and Argenta her silver sister, figure they will recognise such a person because he/she will remember how to play, as humans did before they became so devoted to material pursuit and planetary destruction.

Part 1: Faeries Just Want to Have Fun!

Their search leads them to a noisy place filled with young people: a school playground.  “Could this be a place to have fun?” they ask.  Their hopes soon shatter, when they discover some bizarre playground practices; spell bound girls worshipping something called “Fashion” and refusing to eat “when there is food all around them” .

Curious, the faeries decide to follow one girl, a very pale girl, home, where they  witness a disturbing event. The girl stands before an amazing object, which looks like upright water.  Immediately she is reflected, as an ugly distortion of her real self.  Despite her pleas, the reflections get worse and worse. The faeries immediately suspect the work of bad spirits and determine a plan to find where this trickery comes from.

Part 2: In search of the Mirror Makers!

Their search leads them to the biggest Fashion house in the world: the House of IMAGE. Here they witness a Fashion Queen with her drones, busily creating images of hungry, pale looking creatures.  Argenta spots a young man whom she thinks might have what it takes to change the world, if only he would wake up to himself. She becomes infatuated with her Sleeping Prince in the true spirit of the fairytale. Although she is invisible to him, she manages to find a way to get into his ear.

Part 3: Back in Faerydom.

Meanwhile, back in Faerydom, the Godmother is not convinced that she should help humans who won’t feed themselves: “They’re not being bombed or having food stolen from them” she declares.  However, she does agree to give the sisters their own enlightening wands. When she hears about the silly human mirrors and the trouble they are causing on Earth, she simply undoes their spells.

Part 4 : Happy endings.

The next day, when people stand before their mirrors they are reflected in the most positive and loving way. Freed from their negative mirror messages, people begin to have fun again. There is dancing in the streets. Meanwhile Argenta uses her enlightening wand to wake up the sleeping Prince and inspired by her vision, his drawings liberate the world of Fashion forever.
