Mirror Mirror for professional women
A one day program

A message from Denise Greenaway,  psychologist, educator, author of  the Mirror Mirror Process.

"Too often women who work or live with girls rely on their own memory of their adolescence, as a measure for those in their care. False assumptions can become the basis for their interactions. Some of these assumptions are formulated from societal beliefs and philosophies. Others are a direct result of unconscious attitudes carried by the ' carer' from her own past.

Too many women in positions of responsibility with girls have not had the opportunity to heal their own childhood wounds. In fact, some are working with girls to unconscioulsy heal their own wounds. Consequently the initial enthusiasm to help can snowball into an unhealthy enmeshment, whereby  the carer finds herself out of her depths and so withdraws, repeating the cycle of abandonment to which the child is already accustomed.

My experience with helping girls has proven to me over and over again that the healing is in the Trust that grows between the girl and the carer. The carer always has to pass the Trust test. The tests become more formidable according to the extent of the damage endured by the child. In extreme cases such as anorexia, the re-building of  trust can be a life-long commitment.

When girls are addicted to care-less lifestyles, carers often feel frustrated because they want girls to care. But the carers' task is to find out why the girls don't care, so that  support can be provided for them while they tread the path of seeming self-destruction.

Mirror  Mirror for professionals is designed to heal some the wounds of the carer's adolescence so that real healing may happen for themselves & their clients.
